The Many Rants of Growlbert

It’s what’s on my mind.

Blogaholism

Warning! Blogoholism is a real threat!     Are you, or is someone you know, a blogaholic?

Blogaholism is no joke. If you, or someone you know, are suffering from this condition, it is important that professional help be sought immediately in order to avoid the possible deleterious effects.

Social consequences of Blogaholism include divorce, unemployment (unless you are one of the fortunate few who have made blogging into a career) and poverty.

The following questionnaire was developed by the National Council on Blogaholism. With this assessment you can better determine whether you – or someone you know – might need help.

Answer yes or no to each question.

  1. Do you blog heavily after disappointment, after a quarrel, or when someone gives you a hard time?
  2. When you have trouble or feel under pressure, do you blog more heavily than usual?
  3. Have you ever noticed that you’re able to blog more that you were when you first started blogging?
  4. When hanging out with others do you sneak into a different room and use the computer to write a few blogs without them knowing?
  5. Do you feel uncomfortable if a computer is unavailable for you to blog on?
  6. Have you recently noticed that when you begin blogging, you’re in more of a hurry to get through the first blog than you used to be?
  7. Do you sometimes feel guilty about blogging?
  8. Are you secretly irritated when your friends or family discuss your blogging?
  9. Have you tried (and failed) various plans to control your blogging?
  10. Have you failed to keep promises you’ve made to yourself about controlling or stopping blogging?
  11. Do you try to avoid family or friends while you are blogging?
  12. Do you sometimes forget to eat while you’re blogging?
  13. Do you often have the “shakes” in the morning and find that writing a blog helps to relieve the feeling?
  14. Do you sometimes blog for several days at a time?
  15. Sometimes, after periods of heavy blogging, do you see or hear things that aren’t there?

Interpretation:

If you answered yes to:

1-5 questions   à You may have a potential blogging problem.

5-10 questions à It is likely that you have a blogging problem.

10-15 questionsà You definitely have a blogging problem.

* If you do have a problem (or just think that you might) remember that help is available!
